body of work workshop 4-the final layer.

By the fourth Body of Work workshop, the canvases were thick with history, three layers of movement, colour and story embedded in their surfaces. The pressure in the room was tangible. No one had been asked to “finish” the work however, the sense of culmination hovered there, unspoken, as each participant found their place in the process. Some approached with reverence, tracing the arcs and following the echoes left by earlier hands. Others worked boldly, pushing against what was there, testing how much space they could take up. The air held both deep emotion and quiet release, as if the canvases were absorbing the weight of what could no longer be carried. What emerged was not resolution in the traditional sense, but a layered testament to presence. There were marks of nurture, claiming, concealment and revelation. In the end, the canvases stood as living records of four distinct yet connected gatherings, each shaped by the bodies that had moved with and upon them. It was an incredible privilege to witness the marks, the movement and the stories held in the body. Thank you to each of the participants for their courage and authenticity.
