BODY OF WORK Workshop 1

Body of Work began at the Butter Factory Arts Centre in 2025 with a group of six participants and a row of blank canvases spread across the floor. Throughout the day, they moved, marked, dripped and layered following the stories their bodies wanted to tell. At the end of that first workshop, the canvases held the traces of their presence: beginnings without endings, marks waiting for what might come next. These were displayed as part of Ren’s own exhibition, Conversations with Nature. Those first workshops carried a sense of raw possibility; strangers becoming companions in curiosity, each person following the thread of their own body story while held in the gentle rhythm of the group. By the end of the day, the walls and floors held traces of our shared presence: layered marks, shifting colours and moments of stillness caught in paint.
